English Mastiff

According to the American Kennel Club, the biggest dog breed is English Mastiff, which is also known as Old English Mastiff. English Mastiff is considered as the heaviest dog, but not the tallest one. This dog weighs around 50 Kg to 155 Kg. While its height is around 64 cm to 92 cm. Back in 1989, an English Mastiff named Zorba broke the record as the heaviest and tallest dog ever, with his 155,6 kg weight. Zorba measured over 244 cm from its nose to tail.

Hercules, another English Mastiff broke the record in 2001 as the heaviest dog in the world, with its 128 Kg weight.

Great Dane

Have you ever watched Scooby Doo? Scooby Doo is a Great Dane dog breed. This dog breed is called a soft giant because it is friendly and easy to get close with humans though it is big. An adult Great Dane can weigh up to 72 Kg and its height is around 81 cm. Great Dane itself is the result of a cross between the English Mastiff and the Irish Wolf. So, it is not surprising that this dog breed is incredibly big and as pricey as a Pomerian dog price.

Tibetan Mastiff

As you can guess from the name, this one of medium to big dog breeds is from Tibet. Tibetan Mastiff’s real name is Do-Khyi. Back then, a lot of people pet this dog as a watchdog. But now many people also pet it as a companion dog or household pet. The height of Tibetan Mastiff can reach 72 cm and it weighs from 70 Kg to 86 Kg. Since the climate in Tibet is freezing, it is not surprising that Tibetan Mastiff has thick fur. And the fur colour is varied, from brown, black, and others.

Saint Bernard

Saint Bernard is known for its skills and bravery in the Alpine rescue mission in its country, Swiss. This dog breed weighs around 64 Kg to 117 Kg. If you look for playful, cute medium to big dog breeds, Saint Bernard is the one.
